WALTHAM -- George A. Rando, 86, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at
Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.
He was the husband of Marion Rando for 58 years.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Antonio and
Rosaria (Zagame) Rando. He lived in Los Angeles, Calif., but spent
most of his life in Waltham.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a founder and owner for 38 years of the Wal-Lex Bowling,
Roller Blading and entertainment area until his retirement in
1982.
Active in golfing, bowling and boating, he was a member of the
Waltham VFW, Knights of Columbus, Filicudi Society and ProBus
Club.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Rosemarie Williams
and her husband, Joseph, of Weston, Kathleen O'Donnell and her
husband, Terry, Marianne Savignano and her husband, Gary, and
Georgina "Gina" Condon and her husband Jim, all of
Waltham; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 9:30
a.m., from the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St., Watertown,
followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., at St. Jude's Church,
147 Main St., Waltham.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 3 to 7 p.m.
at the funeral home.
Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
charity of your choice.
